Screen Recording
Required to read screen pixels for a capture. You can change this permission in macOS System Settings.
Shotlane is a local-first macOS screenshot app. The app does not upload screenshots, recognized text, clipboard contents, file names, file paths, window titles, shortcuts, or runtime logs.
A debug report is copied only when you choose that action.
Shotlane uses macOS capture APIs to read screen pixels, annotate captures, recognize text, sample colors, copy results, and save files. Captures and recognized text stay on your device unless you share them through another app.
Text recognition uses macOS Vision by default. You can also use the bundled PP-OCRv6 tiny engine. Both work locally, and PP-OCR does not require Python, PaddleOCR, or a separate model download.
Troubleshooting information stays on your Mac. Shotlane does not upload logs, diagnostics, analytics events, crash reports, or telemetry.
When you copy a debug report, it contains sanitized runtime, permission, display, and recent-status details intended for troubleshooting. You decide whether to share it.
Shotlane stores preferences and optional diagnostic logs in its macOS app container. Captures are saved only to folders you choose. Temporary clipboard previews are removed automatically after a short local retention period.
You control this local data. Delete captures in Finder or use Shotlane's confirmed cleanup action, clear diagnostic logs in the app, and revoke permissions in System Settings. Shotlane has no account or remote copy for the developer to retain or delete.
